Online Meeting Guidelines & Etiquette

We come together as a group to learn, grow, experience and reflect.

To make the most of it, we ask you to take note of the following:

  • If you need to gain attention, please use the “raise hand” feature found in the ‘Reactions’ tab on the bottom of your screen. This is very similar to raising your hand in a real-life group setting which will attract attention.


  • Always mute your microphone, unless you are actually talking.


  • Video: We gratefully ask you to be VISUALLY present on the screen to assist in forming and maintaining a sacred vessel throughout the evening. If you intend to leave the ‘room’, kindly turn off your Video until your return – movement in and around your personal space can be distracting for other companions and your Host.

  • Please be aware that in a live meeting, activities such as moving around the room or checking your phone while the meeting is in progress can be distracting for the other participants.

  • If you have to leave the room unexpectedly, please turn off your video. When you return to the room and PLEASE TURN ON YOUR VIDEO.

  • We appreciate that from time to time you may need to join a class when you are away from home. The same idea applies – it can be disruptive for others if you are attempting to tune in via mobile phone on the move, or from a café or other public space, or if you arrive late.

  • Remember that everyone can see you – and your backdrop!


  • We would ask you to remain present throughout the meeting. Please do not use the Chat facility during the meeting unless you have a technical issue before or during the meeting.


  • We encourage you to join our meetings 10-15 minutes before the start time. We know how stressful it can be if there are issues and you are late. Furthermore, we like to see you arriving and joining the meeting.


  • Abusive, offensive and disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. The Zoom Host will remove people behaving inappropriately.

Online Meeting Protocols

  • Generally, there is a time to talk and a time to listen. Each meeting will have clear Q&A sections in which you can participate by raising your hand.

  • As the meeting is about to begin, the meeting host will mute your microphones. Before and after meetings there will be time to talk and share with each other.

Zoom Tips and Tricks

  • Remember, it is highly recommended you keep your Zoom client up-to-date. There will be regular updates that affect your experience.

  • Do use a personal Zoom account (the basic ‘free’ one is perfectly fine). This helps facilitate the experience all around.

  • If you choose to change your profile name after you register a group membership with the Toledano Tradition Studies, please inform us. If you are not known to us, you will not be permitted into the room.

Sharing of Information

  • Meeting details should not be shared either publicly or personally.

  • Please be respectful and discreet about sharing what goes on in the group.

  • Please do not record meetings in any form.

  • Some group meetings may be audio recorded by the hosts, and you will always know when this is the case. They will not be shared publicly and will be restricted to legitimate participants only.

  • Video recordings for paid Seminars are restricted to legitimate participants only.
